More good news from the new immigration law! If you are (or will be) a temporary or permanent resident of Costa Rica (not a perpetual tourist!!!) then you now have more obligations in order to maintain that residency and be able to renew it.
Residents are now required to register and participate with the Costa Rican CAJA - or social security agency. Participation not only means registering, but also making mandatory monthly contributions to the CAJA in order to maintain the residency status.
